Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli steadied India after the early departure of Rohit Sharma in the high-voltage match of the ICC cricket World Cup 2015 at Adelaide.
Dhawan struck 50 and Kohli appeared set for another half century. Pakistan’s Sohail Khan made the early breakthrough into the Indian batting order dismissing Rohit Sharma after India won the toss and came on to bat.
India began their innings slow and watchful seeming very reserved in playing faulty strokes apparently set with a strategy to keep wickets in hand.
But, Rohit Sharma gave away trying to play a pull at mid-on on the front foot, managing only a leading edge to Misbah in the eighth over.
The pitch, according to report, is a very good surface to bat on – flat and dry. It is being speculated that the minimum par score on the wicket is 280.
The atmosphere inside Adelaide Oval was electrifying, typical to an India-Pakistan match. The stadium was filled to the brim and the noise absolutely amazing.
